George Mitchell

George Mitchell

Children from the five London boroughs which will host the Games in 2012 have been working on a project called Welcoming the World, which involved creating their own videos about their local community. The pupils of George Mitchell Community School in Leyton produced this video.

Boy: Every smile every place, every corner you will see

Boy: Can shine, can bloom, can show you this is the place to be.

Children together: Unity in the community.

Boy: I like painted eyebrows and colourful nails.

Girl: I like donners and costas, and cigarette butt trails.

Boy: Graffitis and art, express yourself on the walls,

Boys: Whether you're black, white, mixed race or tall.

Boy: The outdoor spaces, the vision of outspoken faces, outspoken faces.

Girl: I love walking in parks - it's fun.

Boy: Add a new grass space, add a new tennis court where foxes howl, foxes prowl, foxes howl, foxes prowl.

Boy: I grew on the estate, where people like to hate; they think we like a lot of things they need to appreciate.

Children: Unity in the community.

Girl: They think we like a lot of things but they need to appreciate the achievement that we make, the pride that we take. Just because we're young, it doesn't mean we're not great.

Children: Unity in the community.

Boy: I can see potatoes are plotting to attack us, beacuse they're covered in spikes when I look down from the box. There's so many chicken shops it's enough to make me go cold turkey - what's happened to the steak or beef jerky?

Boy: We're just a bunch of animals trying not to be cannibals.

Children: Unity in the community. Unity in the community.

Boy: I use the bus 48 when I go out on a date. Don't want to be late, want to be there for eight.

Children: Unity in the community.

Girl: I come from East London LDN, but since year seven I've grown like a stem. I'm young, black, talented and gifted.

Boy: Gifted and talented.

Boy: I am E10 and go to a school called George Mitchell.  Welcome to my world, it isn't so easy, but here is peace, we live in East. But here is peace, we live in East.

Children: Unity in the community. Unity in the community!!!!!
