Education logo competition

Education logo competition

Transcript of a video announcing the launch of a competition to design an Education logo, in April 2009.
AJ, LOCOG Head of Brand and Marketing: We have got the Education logo where we're inviting young people to come in and design the inside of the logo. It's what we call a logo infill, where students can literally take anything that inspires them and put that inside the logo.

Nick, LOCOG Head of Education: Right from day one, when we bid, we talked about young people, we said that the whole point of the London hosting the 2012 Games was about involving and including young people.

"Wow!" "Isn't that cool?" " Yeah that's really cool!... "

Today we are actually working with some graphic design students, so I'm really looking from them for some really dynamic, bold, really creative, innovative designs.

I'm thinking the pink bus because its something that would be quite creative and quite good use. I thought maybe sketching out the five boroughs together to show we are united and we are one.

The great thing about this logo is that it's specifically for education, it's specifically for schools, which makes it really special - so it's their logo if you like.

I have to make it simple, but I has to say a lot of stuff, the image still has to talk to the audience.

The main job of the logo is to inspire creativity, to inspire change, to get people to do things that they've never done before.

I always wanted to get involved in the Olympics, I'm also an athlete and do a lot of athletics but getting involved in something else I do like graphic design is also very exciting.

It is exciting a little bit.

So now we are handing our brand over to you guys, good luck.
