Chris Hoy, quadruple gold medalist: I'm here today for the official launch of the VeloPark design. I was part of a design jury panel to pick the winning team about year ago or so and it's just fantastic to see the nearly completed designs in terms of what it's going to look like and to be out onto the site itself and see where it's going to be and get a feel for the Olympic Park and what it's going to look like.

To have not just the Velodrome, the road circuit, the BMX track, mountain bike trail, speedway track, you can have everything in one place and at the highest level. Having seen the designs and being part of the panel that chose the design team, I'm confident we are going to have an amazing facility here.

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London: As a very very keen cyclist I've always longed to get into one of these Velodromes and see what they're like and go faster and faster round the bowl of death, and I hope very much to do that in 2012. Whether they'll allow me to do it before the Games or once they're safely after I don't know.

Chris Hoy: I definitely hope to be competing in four years time. You couldn't have a bigger goal than to have a home Olympics, so for me it's no question I definitely want to be there. The other question I suppose is whether I can stay at the top and fight off the young challengers, the young team mates that are coming through, but they really add a bit of extra motivation and help with the competition within the team to raise the bar. So it's four years away and I'm looking forward to it already. Its really exciting.
