John Nicholson, ODA Aquatics Project Sponsor: Hi, I'm John Nicholson from the ODA - Project Sponsor for the Aquatics Centre. We are currently stood in the Aquatics Centre site right in the thick of the action, located below the main foot bridge which acts as the main walkway into the Olympic Park and to the main Stadium and beyond.

Effectively if you look behind me, we can see one of the main roof supports that's taking shape with the scaffold around it.

We have another one of the supports that will start to be taking shape early in the New Year, and looking beyond there's a huge concrete wall where we've got one or two mobile cranes in the background there. These three elements actually form the main roof support for the Aquatics Centre.

One of the exciting things about the project, particularly for myself actually having been involved right from the outset and during the bid stages, is the fact that where we're stood at the moment used to be the site of a number of scrap metal merchants, salvage yards.

One of the biggest fridge mountains in Europe actually was located here, so to see the site develop in to what we see today and to see it develop further into legacy where we're providing facilities for the community and elite athletes this really will be a project to be proud of. We expect it to be completed in June 2011 and so far, so good.
