About the North Greenwich Arena
Originally built for the Millennium celebrations, North Greenwich Arena 1 has been transformed into a sports and entertainment arena with shops, restaurants and more. It opened to the public in June 2007.
Where is it?
North Greenwich Arena 1 sits on the point of the Greenwich peninsula, right on the Meridian Line. It is just across the Thames from the mouth of the River Lea, which flows through the Olympic Park.
The venue is easy to get to by tube using the Jubilee Line, which also serves the Olympic Park and runs through to central London.
Getting ready
North Greenwich Arena 1 will host a number of entertainment and sporting events between now and 2012, including the World Gymnastics Championships in 2009.
During the Games
During the Games, North Greenwich Arena 1 will host Gymnastics and the finals of the Basketball competition. The arena will seat 20,000 spectators for the Basketball final and 16,500 for the Gymnastics.
After the Games

After the Games, the venue will continue to host major sporting and entertainment events.
