Where is it?
The Basketball Arena will be a temporary venue in the northern part of the Olympic Park.
Getting ready
In November 2007 the ODA appointed a multi-disciplinary design team for the Basketball Arena, made up of Sinclair Knight Merz, Nussli International, Wilkinson Eyre and KSS Design Group.
The concept designs were agreed in June 2008 and a planning application is due to be submitted in November 2008. Building work will finish in time for test events before the Games.
The site is currently the location of two soil washing machines, with a third due to be installed. The surrounding area is being used to stockpile soil, before it is cleaned by the machines.
During the Games

The Arena will have 12,000 seats for the Basketball preliminaries and quarter-finals, as well as Handball semi-finals and finals, and 10,000 seats for Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Rugby.
After the Games
It is anticipated that elements of the Basketball Arena will be taken down and relocated elsewhere in the UK.
