Youssef's nomination story

Youssef has been one of my pupils for 4 years at my school PE department. Youssef has shown enormous courage to have taken part in every Pe lesson for 4 yrs despite his physical and medical difficulties, i.e. speech and eyesight. In addition to this he is downes syndrome and has severe learning difficulties. To promote equality I have made sure that Youssef has represented the school in a range of sports e.g. rugby, football, swimming and athletics. Youssef is dedicated to his PE and is an Inspiration to other pupils who are physically less able. Youssef has made friends with all the pupils in the school through sport and has gained their respect as a result . I use Youssef as a shinning example to others who are not so motivated by sport to highlight to them what determination and hard work can achieve. He lives and breathes sport and and to myself as Head of PE I enthuse about him to all our younger pupils in their search for excellence. I will miss Youssef when he leaves school next year and feel this would be an appropriate way for him to finish his school days having put so much into sport and PE. Youssef has also helped me in my try an olympic sport day on 29th June 2011 where I have 100 primary school children coming in, each school has designed a flag to symbolise the 7 olympic/paralympic values. Youssef will be helping me with the 2012 torch relay on our bottom field with the torches the primaries have designed. Youssef has also helped me with the II PROJECT.
