Yasser's nomination story

Yasser is President of Leeds Metropolitan University's Students' Union and, as such, respresents all our students. He was the first British Asian and Muslim president of our Students' Union. In his my first year of study, Yasser co-founded the Islamic Society, which broke the record for the most members within three months of starting. This provided a huge platform for Muslim students and gave them a chance to represent themselves - it is still one of the most active societies Leeds Met Students' Union has to offer. Yasser has also been a member of the management committee for Met TV and was the main presenter at Leeds Student Radio. This led to him gaining two national student radio awards including Best National Male presenter by BBC Radio 1 and being nominated for four National Student Television awards, making him again the first British Asian in history to win the Student Radio Awards and be nominated for the National Student Television Awards.
