Yasmin's nomination story

Yasmin's natural athletic talent and determination were revealed during swimming lessons at age 4. She mastered all four strokes and successfully competed in many galas eventually making the Aberdeen regional team.

At this time Yasmin was introduced to track athletics during school sports. Sprint hurdles eventually won her total focus and since the age of 10 Yasmin has surpassed all expectations. Willpower, natural ability, enthusiasm, and an unshakeable belief drove her through endless hours of training, diet, and all manner of competitive events to become a Scottish Sprint Hurdle Champion and sustain it. Her ability to consistently reach peak performance has won medals for Scotland as well as achieving selection for the 2011 Youth Commonwealth games. Without doubt a remarkable set of achievements.

Yasmin has overcome numerous setbacks with patience, foresight, character, and a friendly smile. She has also achieved impressive academic results, and overall truly embodies the 'Olympic Spirit'.
