William Williams

Pensioner William is a very active supporter of various local and national charities, despite being a sufferer of the no-known-cause, no-known-cure, chronic progressive disease Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). His illness has motivated him to help fellow-sufferers and other charities. Of particular relevance to the Olympic Torch Relay is William's participation in the annual Aberystwyth 10 km road race, by which he has raised over £15000 in 5 years for charities such as the PSC Support Group, Macmillan Cancer Support, and Ceredigion MS Society. He is Chairman of Ceredigion Talking Newspaper for the Blind, and successfully led their recent project to go digital , involving major fundraising for the purchase of new recording equipment. William also works for the local community through his membership of Aberystwyth Rotary Club which supports this nomination.
