William's nomination story

William is an inspiring character and he has demonstrated good leadership qualities both in sport and at school. He always encourages others to take part and do their best at whatever team sport he plays. He has been coaching a young football team in his spare time on Saturday mornings and volunteers to help disabled children play sport every week on Tuesday evenings at a club called Burnley Bears. Last summer he helped at Burnley Bears during his school holidays nearly every day. He recently won Burnley Young Volunteer of the Year 2010, Burnley School Sport Partnership Young Sports Leader 2010 and Lancashire Sport Awards Young Volunteer 2010. He is a Young Ambassador, encouraging others to take part in sport and has taken an active part in the Adistars programme at school. He is well liked and respected by everyone in the school from all sections of the community and would be a great ambassador for the community in which he lives and plays.He has recently been made Head Boy at Sir John Thursby Community College.
