Wendy has been co-running the Battle of the Bands event for the last 3 years to support the Lloyds designated charities... For the 2011 event, Wendy managed to attain funding/sponsorship for the first time which has allowed us to book a good venue and get professional tickets produced. This has also allowed us to buy 2 tickets for T in the Park 2012 to use as a raffle prize. . Her drive, commitment and enthusiasm have been key to the success of this event.. Wendy also arranges a yearly Christmas Present appeal within SWIP\SW. In 2010 the gifts went to Residential Units for Young people, Day Care services for under fives, Seaview Unit for Children with Disabilities, Edinburgh Families Project( who work with families in the community) and for the first time The Working With Fathers project who directed gifts to Women`s Aid hostels. The last of the presents were given to the Pilton Youth Community Project helping needy families in the area.. Wendy also helped out with arranging Christmas Boxes for 16-25 year olds who are in temporary accommodation. She worked alongside colleagues and Richard F Mackay (Furniture shop) and the Rocktrust charity in the making of up to 62 Christmas Boxes. These boxes were delivered anonymously to the doors of the young people, with nothing more than `this is from someone who cares`. Wendy has also supports 2 cancer charities Its Good To Give, organising door collections, taking part in sponsor walks and Teenage Cancer Trust - door collections.
