Wendy's nomination story

Wendy Hughes, my sisiter-in-law, is the full time carer for my brother Michael, who is totally paralysed with MS. He has had MS for 30 years and has become totally paralysed in the last 10 years. Wendy has been, and is, the most incredible woman. She is always there for him and has positively lived through this progressively devastating illness. As Michael's health has deteriorated she has cared for every physical need as well as bringing up their 2 boys. She has not let his illness prevent them from going out or going on adventurous holidays. She has taken him on Tall Ships adapted for the disabled, on narrow boats, abroad & on outdoor pursuit hoildays where she has had him hauled in and out of sailing boats, abseiling down a climbing wall and hoisted up the mast! She's even had a van adapted so they can still go camping. She is one gutsy woman! They are both an inspiration to all who know them. Wendy has worked tirelessly to try different approaches to help Michael. She has raised hundreds of pounds for MS through various sponsored events. She ran the 2010 London Marathon & has a place in 2012. She cares 24/7, feeds, washes, dresses, interprets (he can only communicate via the widening of his eyes), toilets, puts him to bed, gets him up, and everything else you can think of! She is ONE in a MILLION! With her newly found passion for running it would be such an amazing priviledge, and honour, for her to be able to carry the Olympic Torch! PLEASE MAKE HER DAY & MICHAEL'S!! x He has had MS for 29 years. He has been totally paralysed with MS for over 10 years.
