We are nominating Wayne Whittaker on behalf of himself and his partner Kate, for their massive services to the local community. Wayne works full time as a Registered Care Manager for Sense, running a home in Malvern for adults with dual sensory impairment and other issues. He is hugely appreciated by the residents and his staff who say "Wayne is an approachable, kind and funny. He will always go out of his way to help us". At home, they have 2 young children and Wayne is the main carer for his partner Kate who has degenerative disc disease & Fibromyalgia and often struggles with daily tasks. For most people, this would be enough social responsibility, but not Wayne and Kate! While the rest of us are sitting on the sofa, making excuses and saying we are too busy to help out, Wayne and Kate are out there taking responsibility, volunteering their time and setting an example for the rest of us. Wayne is coach for the under 9 Colts at Newtown Football Club. He trains them on a Friday night and then on Saturday mornings, he is there to encourage them through their match. Wayne and Kate have also recently taken over as leaders of the 7th Malvern Cub group where their massive enthusiasm rubs off on the boys. "We can't wait for our summer camp" says Oscar the Cub. "Wayne is patient and good at explaining things, but Kate helps us out when we are feeling sad." This pair deserve some recognition for their contributions to so many people's lives.
