Viv's nomination story

My nan is the best person you could choose to carry the torch for the Olympics. She has run thirteen marathons in the past her most recent one has been in 2010 when she was 62. In 2011 she couldn`t run the marathon as she was sat out with a knee injury. She will be running the marathon again next year to celebrate the Olympics being held in London and raising yet again more money for charity. She has raised more than thirty thousand pounds altogether for many charities such as; Tickled PInk, Macmillan Cancer care, Roy Castle Lung cancer foundation and many more. She has also donated seventy pints of blood and inspired me to donate blood when I`m old enough to. She runs a local netball club for adults who want to get back to netball and she helps them out in matches against other teams. She is also training to be a qualified netball umpire so has kindly volunteered to umpire for other netball teams, not just her own. She is truly a star and an extremely inspiring lady. She has taken part in the Shaftesbury Carnival for the last thirty years with her netball team. With six grandchildren she also helped us take part in carnival with various things like a tribute to Elvis, Shaftesbury in bloom and this year - Zumba! She was Carnival Gran in 2007, this inspired me to take part in a competition to become Carnival Princess in 2008 and I was royalty just like her!
