Victoria's nomination story

Victoria has recently completed a six month spell volunteering to work, sorting clothing, pricing and serving customers in the local charity shop as part of her D.O.E. silver award. Prior to that she was volunteering at the local cats protection league shelter, clearing up after  the strays, providing them with food and water. She voluntarily coaches fencing at her local school, Sullivan Upper, on one after-school session, taking time out of her training schedule to help the younger and less experienced fencers. Taking them through footwork routines through to improving their techniques. She helps at Belfast fencing club in a similar manner once a week, helping the less experienced fencers improve. Whilst at competitions, most weekends, she would take time out of her preparation, to coach the other young fencers and highlight ways to overcome their opponents, and not restrict that coaching to her own clubmates, but others from Northern Ireland. She is currently ranked 28th in the UK senior rankings, (coming 26th in the British and Welsh open championships, whilst aged only 16). She is currently the N.Ireland national champion and is ranked third in Ireland.  She has represented Northern Ireland for the last 2 years at the UK School games, has represented Ireland in the 5 Nations tournament and is due to travel to Jersey in February to represent Northern Ireland in the Junior (U/21) commonwealth Championships
