Vicki Dillon is a mother of two from Hexham, Northumberland and a paediatric respiratory nurse specialist who is living with Parkinson's. Her bubbly outlook in battling her condition has been a vital tonic to hundreds of people both online and through meetings in the North East. Vicki is an advocate for The Cure Parkinson's Trust and her nursing experience has meant that she has been a useful sounding board for many with concerns about their own illnesses. She is about to appear in a Channel 4 documentary about the ghastly consequences of being diagnosed with a cronic incurable degenerative condition like Parkinson's this airs on the 12th August. Vicki is brutally honest about the devastating side effects of some of the medication an area that is little discussed and recognised. Vicki's bravery in sharing so publically her story is inspirational. She would be a truly worthy torchbearer for the Olympics, just as she has blazed a trail in discussing her condition warts and all.
