Victor's nomination story

Victor has been an inspiration to hundreds of families/young people within Ballysillan (North Belfast) for over 40yrs, he volunteers in Benview Community Centre providing services and promoting education, health & well-being for all ages in the interest of social welfare, inclusion & recreation within a disadvantaged community. Victor volunteers and is also the treasurer 7 days a week in Benveiw community centre who opens it's doors to over 350 people a week providing play club 4 mornings a week, after schools 4 afternoons a week, 2 youth nights, sewing class, bingo for senior citizens, ladies/womens groups, scottish dancing, monthly tea dances, peer education project, seasonal parties for over 100 families, summer schemes and lots more, he also attends meeting's on behalf of the community on issues that effect them, and without Victor maintaining the centre and grounds on a daily basis with his high ability of DIY and pure determination, to overcome many hurdles through out the troubles in Northern Ireland Benveiw would not have been such a sucess for all these years. The whole of the community would love to see an outstanding community member such as Victor carry the Olympic Torch in Belfast to give not only Victor a great sense of pride but also for all of the Ballysillan Community members to regonise their achievements and to look forward to the future.
