Vanessa Parfitt

Vanessa has been an officer with the Air Training Corps for over 20 years. In that time she has helped and inspired hundreds of 13 - 20 year olds to learn new skills, participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and contribute to their local communities by becoming better citizens. Highly committed and motivated, she not only attends ATC twice weekly but also regularly undertakes weekend activities with the cadets. Despite recently being required to take regular strong medication to control a medical condition, Vanessa's commitment has not wavered. She continues to undertake a full programme of ATC activities whilst holding down a full time job. Vanessa is a keen runner, and has undertaken many charity events, including half marathons, collecting money for those less fortunate than herself. This underlines her commitment and determination. Vanessa is a true friend and has always supported me since I became a volunteer with the ATC. She would be a worthy person to carry the Olympic torch.
