Tyler is a typical fifteen year old who loves going out with his friends, spending time with his family and going fishing at every opportunity. But Tyler is living with a tumour between his heart and lungs. He has overcome many obstacles- both medically and in his personal life- since being diagnosed but has remained positive, refusing to let it get to him. Tyler is mad about rugby, and despite his tumour and doctors telling him he'd never play rugby again, he continues to play for his local rugby team, Ballymena RFC Under 16s who recently reached the Semi-Finals of the prestigious Under 16 Youth Cup. Despite the odds, Tyler has ambitions to one day play for Ulster! Since being diagnosed, Tyler has experienced some bullying and prejudice at school and in his local community, but he has shown real spirit in not letting it get to him. Tyler and his dad, William are inseparable and William fondly describes him as 'my hero'. Tyler's selfless nature and the fact that he worries more about his mum and dad than himself have made him an inspiration to all who know him and an extremely worthy nominee for the Olympic Torch Run. He's famous in his local area for being a keen fisherman and he can be found out on the lake in all weather catching more fish than anyone else!
