I would like to nominate my husband, Trevor Atkinson, for the charity work he has undertaken, these include: 12 years voluntary work for a moorland rescue team in the northern pennines; a guide for the MacMillan Cancer Support sponsored walks and successfully walking solo John O'Groats to Lands End for Cancer Research. Trevor has also run numerous marathons including: London, New York, Dublin, Paris, Berlin, Snowdonia and the Sheffield Student Games all for charity fundraising. He has climbed mountains: 7 ascents of Mt Blanc, Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, Kilimanjaro, Mt Fuji and the Sola Khumbu Glacier in the foothills of Everest most of which were for charity. Trevor has raised money for Meningitis, Leukemia, Asthma, a local Hospice, Save a Life Campaign along with raising cash for beds for a local childrens' burns unit. He ran the Ben Nevis Fell Race - coming in second to last and officially came lastg in the Scottish Coast to Coast Tiathalon - but at least he finished. Be it charity fundraising or organising local 'litter picks' I believe my quiet unassuming husband is well worthy of the torch bearing honour. He has given so much of his time for others therefore I would love this for 'him'
