Toby is a 20 (something) who joined the SBS back in 2009, his life long dream. After passing the rigorous selection process, 6 months later Toby went on his first tour. It was on this tour that he was devastatingly shot in the neck, which left him paralysed from the neck down. He woke in Stoke Manderville hospital and refused to co-operate with the doctors as he thought he had been captured by the opposition. After a de-briefing from his ranking sergeant, Toby started to understand the severity of his situation and the realisation that he hadn't been captured and what lay ahead for him. Following 2 years of intensive re-hab medical care, Toby has been able to move closer to his army base in Poole for more re-hab and integration back into normal life. Toby is a great example of what it takes to overcome adversity by our troops when they return home from action. CR
