Tim is a pilot in the RAF. He is a captain on the AWACS based at Waddington. He is also the pilot leader so has a very busy job. Alongside his duties he has secondary duties in two sports that he loves. He is a surf instructor and ski instructor, enabling hundreds of RAF people every year to experience these sports. He inspires people to take up the sports and to continue with them as far as possible. He is deputy chair of the RAF surf club and since being involved he has introduced structured coaching and development, enabling others to follow their passion to a high level too. He has an infectious enthusiasm for everything he does, he receives excellent feedback from everyone he teaches and everyone he works for and is asked to return to coach the sports whenever he can. He puts 110% into his own performances, and despite taking up surfing relatively late in life, last year he became the RAF longboard surfing champion. He introduced formal coaching to the RAF team to help prepare for the interservices championships against the Army and Navy, and for the last few years this hard work has paid off as the RAF have won the championships for several consecutive years. He now has a one year old son who already has his first wetsuit and has been on a skiing trip so nothing is holding him back!
