Thomas's nomination story

I strongly believe that Thomas should be a torchbearer because of his exceptional achievements so far at the age of 21 years old. Thomas was born with cerebral palsy which has caused problems with both speech and mobility which have required multiple operations to help correct. Throughout all of this Thomas has remained cheerful, enthusiastic and very motivated to pursue a career in Broadcast Journalism, in which he will be taking a course at Cardiff University from September 2011. Thomas' determination has proved inspiring to many of those who have met him. It has motivated people to undertake activities that they would otherwise never thought possible, encouraged friends and family to undertaken fund raising events that have pushed them to the limit (his Mum undertook a trek across the Sahara) and also put life problems into perspective. I feel that Thomas represents all that is good about the Olympics and that being a torch bearer would allow Thomas a once in a lifetime opportunity that I know he would value for the rest of his life.
