Thomas Kandiah

I am nominating my son, Thomas Kandiah. He has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. In meeting the very significant challenges that life has thrown at him he has used sport to good effect. He has persisted with wheelchair basketball and athletics despite physical difficulties, and used sport as a focus in his life. He has coached younger children and assisted with children with learning difficulties. His courage and optimism have been inspirational to others. Thomas is enrolling on a college course to further his sporting interests. I think that the Olympic spirit represents not just being the best, but also being the best you can be. This broadens the appeal and the benefits of the Olympic spirit to everyone prepared to try their best.
