Tom Futcher

My full name Ruth Futcher 12.01.1943

I would like to nominate my grandsons Thomas Futcher date of birth 28.07.1997 and Henry Futcher date of birth 21.09.1999.

In 2008 when Thomas and Henry were 10 and 8 both their parents were diagnosed with cancer, Dad with a brain tumour and Mum, who was 6 months pregnant, breast cancer. Dad had major brain surgery and radiotherapy. Mum had a masectomy and gave birth prematurely to start chemo and radiotherapy. She was rediagnosed in 2010 and again this month.

Through all this the boys never complained and have shone through as strong selfless caring young men. They are incredibly loving especially to their younger brother Freddie. Because of their parents treatment they have missed events/holidays and most importantly what all children should have peace of mind regarding their parents health and future. The boys work hard at school and are focused on their careers (doctor/teacher). They have run race4life and always happy to help others.

They would make excellent ambassadors and would carry the torch with pride. CR
