Ian's nomination story

We are delighted to nominate Ian due to his significant contribution to GE volunteering and his local community.Ian was instrumental in starting volunteering at GE Caledonian, and leads many activities including an annual Bike & Hike event (raising thousands for Diabetes UK) and cycling trips for Chernobyl Children's Lifeline charity. Ian organises sponsored walks for a local children's cancer charity, by mapping walks, completing risk assessments and coordinating marshals. Recently, he proved to be a local hero by providing aid to two collapsed hill-walkers!He truly embraces the HealthAhead ethos and is an excellent role model, regularly running or cycling to work, and participating in 3-Peaks Challenges.Ian supports his local community as a Scout Leader. He leads cycling, hiking and camping trips, and trains Scouts in mountaineering skills.As a member of our Volunteering Team says, 'if we need anything done, it's Ian we go to'
