Tom had an accident in may 2010 whilst retrieving his football from a roof at school he slipped and fell through a glass skylight landing on marble steps he shattered the left side of his skull and the bones pen etrating his brain.Tom wasnt expected to survive and after 9 hrs of surgery was left fighting for his life for 3 weeks. Toms prognosis was severe and we were told tom would remain paralysed on the right side of his body, wouldnt talk, walk or beable to understand and no one had ever been seen with such severe injuries let alone survive. But tom is a fighter and after 9 weeks tom was home. Against all the odds tom is walking, talking and understands perfectly, yes he has got problems but he truly is amazing. Tom was a referee before his accident and lived for football both playing and watching. We wre told tom would never kick a ball again but how they underestimated tom. He truly is amazing and he has never ever complained about what has happened and refusses to except any negatives. Toms surgeons say he is an inspiration to them and a amazing miracle.Tom is now the first to have a custom bone of this size to replace the left side of his skull and he is an incredible left footer with that football.
