Tom is a member of the Watchtree Wheelers Cycling Centre and visits us regularly to take his parents on a tour of the Watchtree Nature Reserves cycle tracks; they used to take him but now he leads the way. Tom is 14 and has numerous health difficulties including Down 's syndrome, Autism, coeliac condition, impaired hearing and sever learning difficulties. Tom has overcome countless obstacles to get to where he is today; obstacles which have come in all shapes and sizes from major heart surgery to everyday communication. I am nominating Tom due to his and his parent's determination to live life to the full, their vigour and enthusiasm is nothing short of inspirational to me and to other users of the facilities here at Watchtree. Tom has developed from cycling with many aids and help from instructors to riding a standard fixed wheel trike unassisted, a fantastic sporting achievement worthy of recognition.Tom is 15, not 14.
