Fenner Austin uses much of his spare time volunteering for 2 organisations Up Rising Programme and True Volunteer Foundation.
The Up Rising Programme takes young people with promise from deprived ethnic communities and puts them on a leadership programme. To support the organisation Fenner is a mentor to young people, spending time each month working with individual. He also helps the charity secure funding and is working on one of the social projects exploring ways of improving financial literacy in young black men.
The True Volunteer Foundation focusses on providing educational and community based projects. Fenner has helped the charity develop as an organisation, moving from a small group of projects to a medium/large sized volunteering organisation. Fenner rewrote the strategy plans for the medium term and has spent the last year working at weekends working with the charity to devilver the strategy. So much so that he has now been asked to be the TVF Head of Strategy and leads the advisory board for the CEO. The Foundations has been featured in a report by David Cameron and Baroness Newlove on making communities safer and are looking to partner with the Civil Service on providing volunteering opportunities for 100's of civil servants.
Fenner Makes a Difference by using his business skills to help shape and improve the True Volunteer Foundation strategy and by mentoring young people in his community.
