Tara Laing

I would like to nominate my sister Tara to carry the Olympic Flame becuase she is one of the loveliest and most giving people I know. She used to work for a charity in Nepal that took women and children out of the jails. When a man goes to jail in Nepal, if there is no money and no one to look after his family, his family have to go to jail with him - often for many many years. My sister worked with the charity to get families like these out of the jails into a halfway house where they taught the mothers and children skills which would help them survive in the outside world without the support of the father. This experience has had a huge affect on my sister. She now teaches English as a foreign language and is totally passionate about it, using it to help give people, and in particular women, the skills to pull themselves out of poverty.
