Tamsyn's nomination story

Tamsyn has inspired the local parish to become more involved in sports and outdoor activities by leading the community project R.E.A.P (Rural, External Access 2 Play) to build a Multi-Use Games Area. She helped co-ordinate fundraising activities to secure over £45,000 from charitable trusts, community grants and village events such as 'Camping with the Kids', 'Dinner on the Run' and encouraging novices to enter the local triathlon. Following the project completion last year, parishioners of all ages have joined together to use the facility with teenagers playing 5-a-side football alongside 50+ year olds, grandparents playing tennis with their grandchildren and a weekly ladies netball club has also been formed. Sports coaching sessions are held in the summer school holidays. A keen sportswomen herself, playing club tennis and netball as well as being an accomplished triathlete, her example is followed by many others in the village, not least by her husband, a rower, and her two children, Leilani, a keen horserider, tennis player and synchronised swimmer and Jake, who plays tennis and rugby. All of this is achieved whilst she is in full time employment with a job which takes her regularly into Europe. Tamsyn's enthusiasm is infectious and, having been the leading light in the R.E.A.P project, she is now the chair of our local village hall committee which oversees the administration of the facility. Her qualifications for being considered as a torchbearer are second to none.
