Sylvia has been an inspiration to a generation of trampolinist in the Alton area. She gives up most if not all of her free time coaching voluntarily 10 hours a week on top of a full time job. She also travels the country support 'her kids' compete in various regional and national competitions. She trains and inspires kids as young as 4 years old all the way through to those in their late teens - always with a smile on her face and with endless words of encouragement. Sylvia is always first to arrive at sessions to start putting out the heavy equipment attached to trampolining and last to leave, updating parents on each childs' development and progress. Sylvia also takes great delight and pride in training and supporting children with special needs. Two of 'her kids' with disabilities are due to compete in the national finals this year and nothing in the world makes Sylvia prouder than this happening. A story that sums Sylvia up; when a young gymnast enter the hall I stated how much I would like to see her on a trampoline. Sylvia turned to me and said 'yes, but I'd like to get her disabled sister on one more'. And we did that very day, and the smile on the girls face was amazing. It taught me a vaulable lesson and made one little girl that isn't as fortunate as some incredibly happy. So please give us a chance to show our appreciation of Sylvia in this incredible way. She truly is one in a million.
