Sue's nomination story

Sue is one of the most thoughtful people that I know. She has two children, her mother is suffering from dementia and she holds down a demanding full time job, but always finds time to help out others. She is a volunteer mentor for SMASH, a local charity that helps disadvantaged children and teenagers. For the last ten years she has been involved with Breakthrough Breast Cancer and has raised thousands of pounds doing sponsored walks, runs, quiz nights, chilli suppers and much more. But it's not just about fundraising. Sue is always there in the background helping out. She has regularly marshalled at charity walks, helped to train less capable walkers, and always supports other people's fundraising events. She never ever seeks publicity or reward for herself. On top of this, she is a very good friend, and is always around to listen to our problems. She is a very keen runner and carrying the torch would be a dream come true for her. She deserves a moment in the spotlight & hopefully this will be it.
