SUE - A TRUE BEACON OF INSPIRATION Uniquely, the day after SUE JONES reached the milestone that most people dread - senior citizen status - she fulfilled an amazing ambition: to play in a competitive netball match alongside her daughter and granddaughter. As well as continuing her 30 year playing career, Sue has been at the core of the LTNL committee for many years and chairwoman for an unprecedented 16 and still counting! Sue remains at the helm of Shepshed Netball Club, a role she has fulfilled for 28 years, and continues to encourage, nurture and develop talent within her three teams. Sue is always willing to help others; additional umpiring commitments, looking after children, whilst Mum's are playing, or just kind reassuring words to a novice umpire or new player - they all come naturally for Sue. Having recovered from Breast Cancer several years ago, Sue takes part in Race for Life every year, unceremoniously dragging with her many friends and relations who's life she touches in a tremendously positive manner, raising hundreds of pounds. Sue is definitely a 'glass half full' person, who's inclusive, understanding and thoughtful nature has accounted for many women's continued presence on the netball courts in the area. I know Sue would be deeply honoured to carry the Olympic Flame, certainly a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity that she would relish and that I believe she fully deserves. I am privileged to call Sue my inspiration and most importantly my friend.
