In October 2010, Stuart was successful in his application to become a Gold Young Ambassador for Carmarthenshire. The selection process included completing an application form and going through a group and individual interview process.. His role has involved working with myself (Active Young People Co-ordinator and county lead for Young Ambassadors) to provide strategic direction for school-based 'Silver' Young Ambassadors countywide, and to provide direct support for ambassadors in the 4 secondary schools in the West of Carmarthenshire.. Stuart has given countless hours in this position over the past year and a lot of very positive feedback has been received regarding his manner and professionalism, including Carmarthenshire County Council's Head of Governance and Inclusion writing directly to Stuart to compliment him on his speech during the county's secondary head teachers meeting.. At an early stage, Stuart and his two counterparts set out their aim to be: Get more people more active more often. Stuart has endeavoured to do this throughout the year in and around his school and countywide, both in his actions and in the inspiration he has provided to others. It has been a pleasure to work with such a fantastic young role model and I feel he is completely deserving of being nominated as a torchbearer.
