Steve has single handedly persuaded Maidstone Council to make tennis accessible to all its residents, by paying for the resurfacing of 2 of the courts in 2006 and installing floodlights for 4 of the courts in 2009 using ALL of his personal savings. In return, the council resurfaced all their courts in all 3 parks. Steve now runs a tennis facility for the council on 6 courts in the borough's largest park, on a 'pay as you go' basis. It is for the local community, juniors & adults from all backgrounds.
Steve runs a professional coaching academy without membership, and has over 600 residents who have now enjoyed the 6 quality courts provided, with a reliable court hire booking service. In the last 2 Augusts he has offered free coaching to juniors, and free court time to everyone. The local community has been so grateful for his foresight to bring tennis back to the general public. Steve does all the maintenance, & provides free use of tennis racquets, balls, & even trainers! Steve stages starter junior tournaments, team matches, a singles ladder & open days, & last year made his base an official Match-Play venue. He also gives free coaching sessions to the physically & mentally challenged despite payment being offered. Steve often works 90 hour weeks in order to provide a 1st class service & facility with junior & adult mix-ins staged weekly. Visit www.phtennis.co.uk to see his website. Steve also trains potential coaches in his unique tennis coaching method free of charge.
