I met Steve about 5years ago as he is the team manager of the Royal Hospital Transplant sports team. He is the most positive, inspirational person I have ever met, he is always smiling positive and up beat despite the difficulties he has faced in his life. He is currently back on the transplant waiting list for a kidney following the failure of his transplant he had 25 years ago. He also has had both of his legs amputated below the knee. None of this stops him from working full time managing the transplant team and participating in sporting events swimming, squash, badminton & volleyball. Steve has represented the UK in 2 world transplant games and he did the swim leg of the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon. He has also swam the English Channel. Everything Steve does is to promote the benefits of organ donation and certainly proves that a transplant can improve the recipient's life tremendously enabling them to take part in all aspects of sporting life. Steve is proof that sport is for all not just for the professional athletes.
