Steve's nomination story

On 24/01/09 Steve was confirmed as having Bowel cancer on his birthday. After surgery, with complications, Steve made a good recovery. Tablet Chemo followed for 6 months, which had various side effects such as inability to focus sometimes, forgetfulness and tiredness . Just walking to the end of the road and back was a huge effort, and at the time a huge achievement. Steve decided to run the Brighton marathon for a cancer charity. Steve had not run since school, close to 30 years. So in November Steve set out on his first tentative training run. Steve lived at Sevenoaks, where snow meant no training for weeks. Even worse, the chemo tablets caused Steve further sharp pain particularly in his feet. But, on 18/4/10 undeterred, with little training, Steve RAN the marathon in under 5 hours, raising over £2,585. Steve is extremely popular with his work colleagues. I know this would be an extremely popular nomination.
