Stefanie's nomination story

Until the recent death of her mother at St Barnabas Hospice Steph underestimated the impact of her volunteering role to this charity. She has spent the last 18 months working every other Saturday at St Barnabas making patients refreshments, talking to family members and supporting nurses. She smiles, listens and helps. She also volunteers at charity events like Light up a Life , The Snowflake Ball and the Midnight Walk . Steph's mother died at St Barnabas in May 2011 her personal involvement with the Hospice as a family member of someone at the Hospice helped her to see the impact of the Hospice in Sussex and need for volunteers. On Christmas Day a patient asked her why she wasn't with her family, Steph simply replied because I'm here with you , he simply smiled.
