Sophie Wheeler

Although Sophie would say she is a normal 16 year old she is far from it. She has been a major influence to her autistic brother, often being the one who had to reason with him and calm him down during his younger years. She has had health problems herself, coping with tourette syndrome and over the past two years a number of occasions when temporary paralysis has happened with the loss of sight in one eye. Even with all these challenges she has continued to give 110% in everything she does, whether it be her school work, judo, drama, singing and writing to name but a few. She works in a local old peoples care home at weekends and in the holidays and has become really popular with the residents, taking a genuine interest in ensuring they have the best quality of life. She is a selfless, caring and inspirational young person who deserves her moment to shine.
