Sophie's nomination story

Sophie joined our school when she was 13 . She had difficulties within her family and previous school. During her first year with us her attendence was only 22%. In summer 2008 she ran away from home and was put into residential care . This was a struggle , it effected her health and after 6 months she asked to go into foster care. From that moment on she 'BLOSSOMED'. Her attitude ,work-ethic ,determination and outlook on life totally changed for the better. In yr 11 her attendence was 100%,she achieved 10 GCSE.s and she embraced every opportunity given to her within school. In yr 12 she was awarded the 'Millenium 'award for championing the Integrated ethos of our school, The Charity Award for taking a lead role within the schools committee and the Personal development award. She is currently a yr 13 student , a mentor to a junior school class, has just completed her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, and has gained entry into the Royal Navy as an AB. She is well-suited for a career in this field and already has mapped out 'intelligence' as her aim. The personal journey that Sophie has made has been inspiring for both her peers and staff alike.
