Sophie was the winner of the recent Nottinghamshire Breakthrough award for sporting achievement. During the past 12 months Sophie has demonstrated she is a hugely talented individual and an inspirational young person who has, and continues to push beyond their personal best. A member of the Carlton Arena Taekwondo Club and the Great Britain Poomsae National Squad and the Great Britain Poomsae National Team, Sophie won gold medals at the 2010 Finland Open, and the 2010 Scotland Open, and was a finalist at the European Championships in Portugal. She won gold at the 2010 National Poomsae Championships as part of the 1st female team, bronze as an individual, and a silver medal in the pairs competition. She also took part in the World Championships in Uzbekistan in October. Sophie is now UK number 1 for the 1st female team, and has jumped from being unranked to the overall UK number 3 individual spot in the past 12 months. At the recent 2011 European Poomsae Championships Sophie finished 7th in the finals with the Great Britain squad. She is now off to Russia for the World Championships. Sophie achievements and dedication to her sport make her an excellent role model for other young people in Nottinghamshire to aspire towards. I believe Sophie would represent an excellent nominee for London 2012 to consider as a torch bearer. In July 30th 2011 I competed fro the world Taekwondo Poomsae competition in Vladivostok (Russia) and finished 11th as 1st female Team. The rest of my story is correct
