Sonik's nomination story

Lloyds TSB, proud Presenting Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, has selected pupils from Brentside school to be Olympic Torchbearers as part of the Flame Followers programme. . . Brentside School have used the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to raise awareness of the Olympic values. Brentside School organised poster campaigns related to the Olympic values, which were then interlinked with religious festivals such as Diwali, Ramadan as well as educational events e.g. Exam season, awards evening and sports day. The most memorable was the Paralympic sporting activities which were ran for all pupils to experience a selection of new paralympic sports. We have also appointed four sport leaders in each year. The sports leaders have been on Olympic experiences such as a visit to the site, seminars and promotional campaigns and have also helped with community sporting events. The Olympics has been integrated into a number of subjects, the most recent being an art competition to design a poster which links the Olympic mascots Wenlock and Mandeville to our local area of Ealing.
