Simon, has been inspirational to all members of Newcastle tri club. Even though this is only his second year of competing in triathlon's and duathlon's he has recently qualified for his age group category in the world duathlon championship's in Gijon. Simon is not only dedicated to mountain biking, road cycling, triathlon's and duathlon's but is always helping the club by competing in local races, and helping newer members of our club to succeed in their sports, whatever their goals. I started off not being able to ride even 20 miles, and had never competed, i among so many other novice triathlete's have received a helping hand and the inspiration to continue training with a group through his encouragement, and can't thank him enough. (I will never be able to compete on an international level but Simon appreciates everyone's individual goals.) Not only is he an inspiration but he genuinely has time for people who just need some encouragment. On top of this he is riding from Paris to Stoke On Trent for the Douglas Macmillan charity on 28th May, it will be a challenge for everyone attending as they are all differing abilities and a fantastic credit to them all. Good luck to all for the ride and for all of these reasons i believe Simon would be an inspirational torch bearer! Thank you.
