Simon's nomination story

I have known Simon for nine years now during which time he has become a good friend and colleague. He joined my team at Stage Door six years ago having already worked three years F.O.H. He is an inspiration to us all and I have tremendous respect for him and everything he aspires to. Simon has Quadriplegic Spastic Cerebral Palsy and relies on his wheelchair for mobility which cannot be easy and must be constantly challenging for him especially on his (albeit few) `down` days. To say, he goes the extra mile, is an understatement. His total selflessness and concern for others is a lesson for us all. He never complains about his disabilities, is always smiling and has great humour and is constantly coming up with new ideas to make our business even more successful than it is. He is so proud to be a part of A.T.G. and I am so proud to have him in my team as we all are. Before joining us he qualified as a childcare assistant, has worked with children with special needs, has been involved in numerous fundraising activities and events, was a volunteer at Woking Hospice for seven years and a regular volunteer at the White Lodge Centre to mention just a few of his commitments! He has a huge heart, massive compassion, a generosity of spirit that is rare and an energy to help and love other human beings that is inexhaustive. I know he would be very proud and love to be a part of the Olympic Torch Relay and if anyone deserves this opportunity it is Simon!
