Simon's nomination story

Before Simon came to the Portsmouth region there was no opportunity for girls to play competitive basketball, but now there will be two girls' teams next season. He coaches in colleges, secondary schools and primary schools giving kids the opportunity to try a new sport. He also has a day job helping primary school pupils with learning difficulties to read and write. After a long day of work and meetings he coaches numerous training sessions for different ages, giving children the opportunity to compete in a less available sport. He encourages us to give our best in everything we do and teaches us how important team work is in every aspect of our lives. He also arranges transport for kids without the means to get to training. He deserves to carry the torch because he has opened doors for children in our area, brought a new sport into our lives and encourages us to give our best.
