Simon's nomination story

Simon is a born leader, a living inspiration to all his friends and everyone he meets. Since he joined Alliance Swimming Club 11 years ago he has progressed impressively both in the water and out. A formidable competitor at both breaststroke and butterfly, the Carrickfergus lad naturally graduated to the post of club captain which he has now brought great credit to for the past three years. He was the first swimmer captain to take his place on the executive committee of the club, bringing a new and dynamic character to internal club communications. Perhaps his success in that regard is no surprise as Simon holds a BTech National Diploma in ICT from the Northern Regional College. He is now in his third year of his honours degree at Coleraine. Still he finds the time to supervise the training of the Alliance junior club twice a week and to act as a role model for the 50 youngsters who benefit from the club's traditional swim teaching expertise. Apart from his love of aquatics, Simon describes himself as 'a bit of a fanatic' about cars. All his friends and colleagues have benefitted from his mechanical expertise at some time and even swimming has to take a back seat now and then when the motor-racing season is in full swing. If the Olympic torch needs a pair of safe hands to keep it in the fast lane as it carries its message of courage and hope throughout the British Isles, this young man from the historic town of Carrickfergus has to be on the relay runners team.I would like to change the place of where I am studying my degree, it is at 'University of Ulster, Jordanstown.' thanks, Simon
