Simon suffers from ptsd as a result of his experiences as a soldier fighting for his country in Bosnia and the Gulf war along with others. He is ill and suffers mentally and physically every day. He has a strong desire to raise awareness of PTSD and at the same time raising funds for Help for Heroes. He is at present on a mammoth task to complete 100 marathons in 100 weeks and is currently on number 25 He faces many battles each day just to get up and function, something we all take for granted and still carries on. Si has many medals for his service to his country and wants people to know that just because he and many others haven't lost a limb, it doesn't mean they are well. he has paid a big price for his service but is a survivor. this would be a tremendous boost and honour for Simon as he is very patriotic and just a way of saying thank you for all he has done and continues to do.
