Siân Kirk

Sian is a young, enthusiastic secondary school teacher in Aberaeron. Sian mainly teaches French but also teaches games lessons. In her spare time, Sian is a keen runner and often competes in races for Swansea Harriers. It is my understanding that Sian is one of the younger teachers in the school and has helped to encourage sport in the pupils at her school with her enthusiasm for anything sport related. I think that Sian is an excellent roll model for pupils in her school with regard to sport and academic achievement and is always willing to help out after school in sports teams/clubs.

Furthermore, Sian was a competitor in a Welsh television programme called 10 Jonathan, which involved numerous different athletic challenges and she performed well enough to reach the final which was held in Tenerife. Unfortunately she did not win but is still recognised due to her involvement in that programme.

I believe that Sian is extremely deserving of the honour of carrying the Olympic Flame because of her involvement in the local community and her hard work in encouraging sport amongst her pupils. I know Sian and her pupils in school would be elated to be involved in the Olympic Games, and I believe it would excite the community in and around Aberaeron and Aberystwyth for her to be involved.
